Founded in 1793 by Isaac Alden, Aldens Specialist catering butchers is a family owned business which has been supplying Universities, Hotels, Pubs and restaurants in and around Oxford with fresh meat, game and poultry for over 215 years.
There has been a lot of change over the years and many skills have been lost to machinery but Aldens team of butchers are still using traditional methods of butchery that would have been used 200 years ago.
Beef is traditionally the nation’s favorite meat item. We take the purchase of beef very seriously indeed; where possible visiting the farms or talking to the farmers to get a better understanding of the beef that we buy. Most breeds these days are cross bred but at Aldens have Traditional Breed status and are members of the Soil Association and pure breeds such as Dexter and Angus are offered to us.
Many people’s favorite. We source the majority of lamb from Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Gloucestershire
There has been so much written over the last couple of years about poultry welfare. We source all our British poultry from farm assured or Red Tractor farms. The main regions we source from are Norfolk, Suffolk and Northhamptonshire
