Opened in 1928 by Charles Hayman, who originated as an ice merchant, which very quickly progressed into a high quality fishmonger, and we still trade from the same site today, albeit fully restored and refitted.
As natural progression moved forward so have the demands of the fishmonger, Haymans have recently moved into new purpose built premises in the heart of Oxford, which has been fitted with the very latest in fishmonger’s tools and techniques, whilst keeping all the traditional values and experience of the fishmonger.
Most fresh fish offered by Haymans is taken from icy cold waters around Scotland and surrounding areas, there is hook and line fish fished for around the Southern coast, and twice weekly deliveries of exotics taken from the warm waters around Sri-lanka.
The vast majority of fish offered by Haymans are taken by traditional fishing methods, such as Ring netting, Hook and line, Hand gathering and netting.
All fish supplied by us to The Mole inn, is grade A quality fish, of which is the very highest of quality.
